x„Bal d’Afrique ist einer meiner frühesten Düfte. Zur Zeit seiner Kreation war ich besessen davon, Erinnerungen in Düfte zu übersetzen. Gleichzeitig fühlte ich mich mutig genug, eine imaginäre Komponente einzubeziehen. Mein Vater lebte und reiste etwa 10-15 Jahre in Afrika. Ich las seine Tagebücher; wie er auf Frachtschiffen reiste, alle möglichen Menschen traf… Für mich war das die Fantasie, durch die Worte eines anderen in Afrika anzukommen. Bal d’Afrique spiegelt das wider; es ist eine imaginäre Reise und zugleich eine vollständige Feier dessen, wie ich die afrikanische Kultur und ihren Einfluss sehe.“
